Classic Teton’s – Schwabacher at Sunrise

January 9, 2020 By Doug

I saw my first version of this images when I was a kid and another group of scouts got back from a backpacking trip.  That was back in the celluloid days, long before computers, instagram, or selfies.  It’s been on my bucket list to go shoot, even though it’s now incredibly cliche’.

Last fall my dad and I did a workshop with Jack Graham (highly recommended), and one morning he took us to get ‘the shot’.  Jack guided us there, so that when we arrived there were only a handful of other folks.  I’d been surprised at just how early that was, until, right before sunrise, the serene silence was broken by the sound of – not kidding – almost 100 camera shutters.

It’s still magical and amazing to see, but somehow sharing it with dozens of my new friends just wasn’t the favorite part of the trip.  We got other classic shots too, and I’ll share some of those in future posts, but the best parts of the trip were when Jack took us to non-classic locations.  For now, that’s one off the bucket list.
