Cybersecurity, photography, 3D modeling & printing
Welcome to my home for musings and riffs on three very different topics – one’s a challenge that faces us every day (and pays the mortgage), another feeds my soul, and the last is a new continuing challenge in my off hours. As the son of an artist and an executive, I bring a merged creative and analytical approach to everything thing I do. I’m a technical storyteller, and that’s why I chose Newspaper Rock as the background image for the site – telling stories is what makes us human.
That combined background is especially helpful in my work as an Executive Security Advisor at Splunk, where I’m part of a high-performing team focused on helping security and business executives manage risk and secure strategic initiatives.
I’ve authored patents, articles, and books on subjects including cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, IT governance, human factors, photographic lighting, alternative photography and 3D printing for fine art. Technical storytelling is my passion, and I regularly speak on cybersecurity topics to executive, business, practitioner and end-user audiences.
I earned my Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Anthropology, and Psychology, and my Master’s in Engineering Management both from CU Boulder. I live in the Colorado forest with my wife our their four-footed and hoofed children, spending as much time as I can in the Rocky Mountains not doing cybersecurity.
