It was a bit of an overcast day, and there’s a spot near the ‘classic’ overlook, where you can see the canyon through the trees. With a little HDR and framing, I thought it gives a different look than the traditional image.
I’ve seen tons of pictures of this classic view, but never made it there until this trip. It’s absolutely as spectacular as the images – probably even more, because you don’t really get the scale until you see it in person.
Cool weather in Yellowstone can be a mixed blessing. The week we were there was only in the 50’s, so a lot of the thermal features weren’t fully visible due to the fog over their hot waters. Still, the view from the new overlook is incredible!
